Buffalo Mozzarella and Tomato Salad
Buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad is an easy appetizer or entree
Buffalo mozzarella is a tangier and more robust version of the typical mozzarella we find on our pizzas. Made from the milk of mediterranean buffalo, it is a creamier, richer and softer to the touch, and can perfectly offset the acidity of the heirloom tomatoes found in this recipe. Topped with torn basil leaves to let expose some of their natural essence, this is a dish that hits on multiple flavor profiles, and will leave you feeling full, satisfied and make you feel like you're eating al fresco in Italy (even for just a moment).
We like to enhance this by adding some sweet, aged balsamic vinegar (bonus points if it's thick and gooey like chocolate syrup), and don't be afraid to tear up some artisanal bread to soak up some of the olive oil and tomato juices.
- 2 Heirloom Tomatoes
- 2 Pieces Buffalo mozzarella
- 4 Fresh Basil Leaves
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- Salt and Pepper to Taste
Slice tomatoes and mozzarella and place collection on plate. Top with torn basil leaves. Drizzle with olive oil and season to taste with salt and pepper.
