Simple Ways to Add Warmth To Your Home
Make your home warm and inviting with tips from Open Home Australia
If you want to make your home warm on the inside, bring in natural elements that are found outside! Open Home Australia’s interior design expert, Natalee Bowen, gives a few tips in the clip below on how to do just that:

The natural elements that also make up tons of home furnishings include wood (or “timber” as they say down under), jute rugs -- jute is a fiber produced from flowering plants -- and leather. In Natalee’s opinion, leather is the most reliable of the three to add warmth to any home, no matter your style. Brown tones bring that natural feel to the home.
When you’re looking for leather pieces, don’t stop at just a couch. Leather can be utilized on accent chairs, ottomans, benches and even accent pillows.
As for the dining room table, Natalee is all about wood. She encourages homeowners to find a table that fits their lifestyle -- you’ll want something big enough if you have a family at home and room to entertain at least a guest or two. Natalee’s magic number? Seating for 6.

Go For Velvet
We at DABL think another great fabric to add warmth to your home is velvet. It adds a warm, romantic feel, and a velvet in rich jewel tones can become the focal point of your room.
Add Candles
For a simple and more affordable way to add some quick warmth, use candles. They literally can add warmth when lit, but even just displaying them in unique holders like the one below, will want to make you want to snuggle up and spend time at home.
Hang Wall Art
Bare walls feel stark and impersonal. Add a touch of personalization by finding pieces that speak to you and compliment your home decor. If you are relatively monochromatic in style, black and white may do the trick. Like some color? Find a painting with a pop of red or bright pink to really stand out! Or, as you may already know, we love a gallery wall.
Bring In a Rug
Wooden floors can be gorgeous, but a plush rug can also make a home feel warm. Especially, if you live somewhere that is actually cold! Try to find a rug that is varying in texture from other items in your home -- obviously, there are endless options out there! Find Your Stand-Out Piece
Whether it’s a unique coffee table, a vintage typewriter as decor, or a family heirloom hanging from the wall, find one piece to incorporate into your room that will be a conversation starter.
