You can easily replicate this simple recipe at home. If not, have no fear. You can place the sandwich in a skillet over medium heat, and then grill it using a spatula, until it’s lightly browned, and flip. Do the same on the other side.
Once the sandwich is grilled, John learns a cool technique: lightly squish the sandwich down, with your fingers, to make sure the cheese bonds. Yum!
Can you guess what it’s paired with? The classic partner to grilled cheese: tomato soup! This combo hits the spot every time.
If you want to jazz up a classic, here are five more unique grilled cheese sandwiches:
- Sub cheddar cheese for brie. Add sliced pears.
- Add tuna to create a tuna melt.
- Spread sundried tomatoes and olive tapenade on the top of the bread and use mozzarella cheese.
- Add pulled pork for a BBQ twist!
- Top your grilled cheese sandwich with a fried egg.
