The classic Tuna Nicoise Salad comes from Nice, which is a gorgeous city in France located along the French Riviera. In fact, the word “Nicoise” translates to mean “of Nice.” The salad was originally created to be an hors d'oeuvre, but today is more likely to be served as a French entrée. Generally, the salad is made from a tasty mixture of green beans, fresh croutons, basil, olives, hard-boiled eggs, and tomatoes, all covered in a delicious dressing. It is always made with tuna or anchovies, but not both. (Jamie Oliver opts to use fresh tuna.)
