You'll never buy store-bought stuffing again after you see how easy it is to create your own at home this Thanksgiving!

Ask everyone what their favorite side is during Thanksgiving, and most people will reply "the stuffing!" In fact, some people seem to like this delicious and savory side more than the turkey itself! While store-bought stuffings often knock it out of the park, once you find out how easy it is to make this at home, you may never go the pre-prepared route again. As a bonus, you may have most of these ingredients at home already! As long as you have bread (which doesn't have to be fresh, by the way), chicken stock, some herbs, celery and onions, you are all set. Anything else you want to add to your stuffing is simply a welcome bonus at this point, but this basis recipe will satisfy most cravings.
Pair this along with some other fall staples like a bacon mashed potatoes, acorn squash and more!
Ingredients
- 1/2 Loaf Sourdough Bread
- 2 Stalks Celery
- 1/2 Large White Onion
- Dried sage, oregano and thyme seasoning
- 1 Sprig Rosemary
- 1 Cup Chicken Broth
- 1/2 Stick Butter
How to Make a Traditional and Easy Thanksgiving Stuffing

The best part of stuffing is that you most likely have bread you can use at home. We opted for sourdough as we enjoy its bright flavor profile, especially as it soaks in the broth and herbs you'll be adding later.

Roughly chop up your bread, and set aside in a mixing bowl.

Next, move on to your celery and chop into small slices.

Dice up your onions, as well!

Saute your veggies with half a stick of butter, and add in your herbs! We opted for sage, thyme and oregano. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Transfer to a mixing bowl, and add in your 1 cup of chicken broth to soak the bread.

Transfer to a ramekin, and top with your aromatic rosemary.

Cover with foil, and bake at 350 Degrees Fahrenheit for 30-40 minutes. Remove from foil, and bake until you achieve a crispier, browned crust on the top layer.

Top with another sprig of rosemary, and serve! Happy Thanksgiving!
