Simple Mint Julep Cocktail Recipe
Just in time for the Kentucky Derby, celebrate tradition with a refreshing mint julep!
While the actual horse race may be the star of the show, you can’t say Kentucky Derby without thinking about mint juleps! This refreshing (and simple) Southern cocktail requires just 3 ingredients (four if you count the crushed ice!), and is a stable of this great American event.
Read on below to create your own to celebrate the race vicariously with this refreshing drink!

The first step is to gather a few mint leaves, and place them at the bottom of the glass.

Add 1-2 ounces of simple syrup, and take a muddler to the leaves and syrup. We prefer to muddle, but simply squeezing or slapping them can help release some of the oils that will bring out, well, the minty aromas.

Next, pour in about 2-3 ounces of bourbon into your glass. If you don’t have a tool to measure out the pours, eye-balling is completely fine!

The next step is crucial - add crushed ice. While regular ice will do, crushed ice is the classic way to enjoy this refreshing drink.

Top off with another mint leaf, and you’re off the races!
