Save Time With These 6 Home Cleaning Hacks
We’ve got 6 hacks that make cleaning simple and fast, so you can get your home sparkling and get out(side)!
Work smarter not harder is a phrase we think applies to many situations in life, including, cleaning your home. No one wants to spend their weekends scrubbing and sweeping, especially as the weather gets nicer and we all want to be outside. Read on for 6 home cleaning hacks that will save you time and quite possibly blow your mind -- they’re that good!
#1: Forget Ironing and Remove Wrinkles With Ice
Toss a few ice cubes into your dryer before you run the cycle. The ice will melt, turn into steam, and guess what gets wrinkles out? Steam! This will work best with lightweight fabrics, like t-shirts and underwear. Set your dryer on high-heat, toss in your wrinkled clothing plus a few ice cubes, and give it 10-20 minutes.
#2: Beyond Dishes, You Can Wash Lighting Fixtures in The Dishwasher
If you’ve got a dishwasher, then you’re in luck. It turns out a lot of lighting fixtures are dishwasher safe. Instead of balancing on a chair while trying to dust and clean, simply remove the fixtures and wash them in the dishwasher. Use the dryer cycle as well, to avoid water spots.
#3: There is a Reason to Save Solo Socks: They Can Clean Blinds!
Once your sock loses its mate, there is often no use for it, yet we bet there are still a ton of these lone socks in your dresser drawers. Instead of taking up space, put them to good use. Slip a clean sock onto your hand, spritz it with a bit of water, and get into those blind crevices. You can swipe the sock from one end to the other and gather all the dust right on up. Okay, now it’s time to throw out that sock!
#4: Be a DIY Star and Use a Paint Roller to Dust Ceiling Fans
It’s a struggle to get into those hard-to-reach places, but this DIY device will make it so much simpler. All you need is a paint roller with a long handle, a dryer sheet, and two rubber bands. Wrap the dryer sheet around the roller, and then hold it in place with the rubber bands. Roll it along the fan blades for a quick and easy clean.
#5: Finally a Reason to Jump On The Bed: It Removes Dust!
Children love jumping on the bed, and if we’re being honest, we think most adults do too! Invite all your little monkeys (or not so little ones) to jump on your mattress, which will help bring up the dust from inside. Then, run your vacuum or dustbuster along the top.
#6: Sweep Faster and Remove Dust Bunnies with a Comb
This DIY hack is simple as can be, and removes a lot of frustration out of sweeping. Often, dust bunnies, hair, and other dirt gets stuck on the edge of the broom -- such a pain! Solve this problem by hot-gluing a wide-tooth comb to the top of the dustpan. Now, when you run the broom along the comb, it will pull all of that junk right off!
