The 7 Best Sunglasses To Tackle Summer 2022
Our favorite sunglasses for summer look fabulous and protect your eyes at the same time!
Sunglasses are the ultimate summer accessory! Not only do they look great, but protecting your eyes from the harsh UV rays of the sun is important to your overall health and wellbeing. Wearing sunglasses has been associated with helping people look younger for longer and preventing skin cancer and harm to your eyes, which can result in irreparable vision damage. Since our eyes are naturally sensitive to light, sunglasses can help reduce headaches and migraines triggered by bright light and glare.
Polarized lenses in particular are awesome for getting rid of headache-inducing glare and making it easier to see in bright light without squinting. Polarized sunglasses tend to be favorites for many outdoor athletes, such as watersports enthusiasts and runners. That said, not all polarization is the same. You have to pick the right type of polarization for your needs. According to an article in The New York Post, there are five different types of polarization. The article explained the differences as:
Rose: Increases contrast and may reduce the risk of the onset of a migraine headache
Yellow: Absorbs blue light and may reduce eye fatigue, strain, and headaches
Gray: Has a neutral density filter that allows all colors to pass through evenly
Brown: Improves contrast, makes greens and browns brighter, good for slightly cloudy days
Green: This is a great filter for extreme glare
So, how do you know you’ve found the right pair of sunglasses? While many brands claim to be the best, you want to only buy sunglasses that will actually protect your eyes in addition to being fashionable. You want to make sure your sunglasses have built-in UV protection. Look for labels that say “100% protection against both UVA and UVB” or “100% protection against UV 400.” While UV protection prevents the sun from damaging your eyes, polarization reduces headache-causing glares. While many sunglasses do combine UV protection with polarization, not all do. For maximum benefits and protection, you may want to look for sunglasses that have both. And these seven pairs of sunglasses truly have it all!
